Door Locks: Which Are Right for You?When it comes to security for your home or building, there are many options available. One of the most basic yet essential methods is by locking all the doors. What you might not know is that there are also many options of locking mechanisms available, each offering their own advantages and disadvantages. Here are three types of door locks that we offer here at Eastway Lock & Key, Inc. to help you decide which option might be best for your needs.

  • Deadbolts: These are the traditional door locks that you’re likely the most familiar with. They typically require a physical key to disengage the lock from one or both sides. However, recent upgrades to the deadbolt have included a keyless cylinder that can be operated with a fingerprint or passcode instead of a key.
  • Pushbutton locks: These door locks involve the use of a secure code rather than a key to unlock the door. There is no lock mechanism for intruders to pick nor physical key to be stolen, making this type of lock a secure option for your home or building. It also makes sharing access to your home or building easy because you only need to share the secure code to allow your guest or employee entry to the space.
  • Cypher locks: These types of door locks work similarly to pushbutton locks in the way that a code rather than a physical key is needed to gain entry, but instead of a numerical code to push in, there are mechanical buttons that must be pushed in a specific sequence to unlock the door. These locks don’t require electricity to work and can be used to offer security in even more remote areas.
