Fire-rated door installation helps protect your building and supports essential fire safety requirements.
When a fire breaks out in a commercial building, every second matters. The right doors can slow the spread of flames and smoke, giving people more time to evacuate and limiting damage to other parts of the property. Fire-rated doors are a critical part of commercial building safety.
Our team offers fire-rated door installation for businesses in Charlotte, North Carolina. We understand that choosing a fire-rated door isn’t simply about finding something sturdy. The door, frame, hardware, and installation all affect how the complete assembly performs during an emergency.
Fire-rated doors are designed and tested to withstand fire exposure for a specified period. Depending on the building’s requirements, these ratings may range from 20 minutes to three hours or longer. Several factors determine the appropriate rating, including the door’s location, the surrounding wall assembly, and applicable building codes.
At Eastway Lock & Key, Inc., we help commercial property owners understand their options and select doors suited to their facilities. Our experience with commercial door systems, security hardware, and fire door requirements allows us to approach each project with safety and functionality in mind.
Proper fire-rated door installation requires careful attention to the entire assembly. The door must fit its frame correctly, the appropriate hardware must be installed, and the closing and latching mechanisms must function as designed. Even seemingly minor issues, such as excessive gaps or a faulty closer, can affect a fire door’s performance.
